SUMMER 2020 - Courchevel : FREE lifts !
From July 5 to August 28, 2020 - SKI LIFTS: THE COURCHEVEL TOWN HALL FINDS AN AGREEMENT TO ALLOW FREE USE THIS SUMMER!
Announced as paying by the Société des 3 Vallées, the ski lifts will finally be free this summer in Courchevel (Praz, Verdons, Saulire), as in the past 2 years, thanks to the intervention of the Mayor. In fact, a good intelligence agreement could be reached between the Town Hall and the S3V to perpetuate this principle of free access considered as a strong element of attractiveness for the Municipality.
Concerning the ski lifts in the "Praz - Courchevel 1850" sector, the concession linking the Department to the S3V forces it to open during the summer. Since 2018, the Town Hall of Courchevel has offered these lifts to visitors by compensating S3V for the revenue not collected. For this summer, the Mayor intervened so that the participation of the City Council remains in the same financial balance (€ 118,800 including tax), as provided for in the 2020 municipal budget voted in January, so as not to impact the next team elected at the end of June.
Note: Regarding the Tania gondola, its access remains free because the financing is supported by the town of Courchevel within the framework of an agreement defined in the extension of the municipal concession operated by the S3V until in August 2030.
In an economic context strongly constrained by the Covid-19 crisis, the Town Hall is aware of the difficulties encountered by professionals who are victims of a shortened winter season. As such, it judges the free use of ski lifts as a real asset boosting attendance at the station and its shops. Destination "refuge" par excellence, the mountain could attract many French this summer. By offering the lifts to visitors, Courchevel offers to take a breath of fresh air at altitude after long weeks of confinement!
